"The Board of the Mental Health Foundation through its supervisory capacity is set out to achieve quality care for the patients of the Foundation whilst upholding legal requirements, in accordance to the articles of incorporation of the Foundation. These articles regulate the agreements made between the board and the director of the Foundation."

Dr. Felix Holiday, President of the Board of the Mental Health Foundation. In daily life Dr. Holiday is the General Surgeon of the St. Maarten Medical Centre and obtained his degree in medicine at the University of Nijmegen in the Netherlands and specialized in surgery in Belgium afterwards. Born and raised on the beautiful island of St. Maarten.

 

 

 

 

  

Mr. Jimmy Challenger, Secretary of the Board of the Mental Health Foundation. In daily life Mr. Challenger is Account executive of the ORCO bank, and worked for several insurance companies on St. Maarten. Furthermore he represents the insurance companies on the board of the foundation.

 




 

Mr. Aernout Kraaijeveld, Vice-president of the Board and an attorney-at-law at Gibson & Associates. He was born in Amsterdam and studied law in Groningen. After working for two years in a mid-size law firm in Amsterdam, he moved to St. Maarten where he has been living and working since 2010.

 

Mr. Arno Peels, Treasure of the Board. Peels has extensive experience managing, designing, and implementing strategies to support finance, organization and decision making in many of the St. Maarten government Ministries. Peels currently holds the office of Corporate Controller, Deputy Secretary General in the Ministry of Finance St. Maarten. As a new board member, Peels will take on responsibilities overseeing the financial health of the foundation. Peels is eager to use his ample knowledge in finance to help the foundation. Peels notes that it is important to pay attention to the social currents of our society for it ensures its prosperity. Peels indicates he looks forward to putting his efforts forward into the organization as the overall impact of mental health on our society is significant.

Dr. Sonia Meade-Swanston, born and raise in Montserrat, Dr. Swanston began her industrious career on the University of the West Indies Medical School where she graduated specializing in obstetrics and gyncaecology. Dr. Swanston has been practicing as a General Practitioner in the Caribbean islands for the past 30 years including Dominica, Nevis, Bermuda and Saba. Since the past 10 years, Dr. Swanston has her own 'Family Medical Practice' in Cay Hill, right around the corner of MHF!

Mrs. Erika van der Horst, MHF board member since October 2015. Erika studied HTS Bouwkunde Haarlem, the Netherlands, and her previous employer NACO brought her to Sint Maarten, to be part of the supervision team during the construction of the new terminal building at PJIA (2005 – 2007). Erika worked those 7 years at NACO (Netherland Airport Consultants) as side engineer during construction projects at Schiphol Airport and whereof 2 years at Sint Maarten. Erika is currently Manager Facility & Maintenance at the Sint Maarten Medical Center (SMMC), where she has been working since September 2009, first as Supervisor Maintenance and recently asked to join the management team.
